Programme Overview
The Foundations of Mentoring Training programme equips you with the knowledge and skills to mentor within your organisation. You will learn how to hold structured, effective mentoring conversations that maintain professional and ethical boundaries, tailored at better supporting new recruits and experienced colleagues through workplace transitions.
This programme is delivered over four part-day sessions, guiding you through the process of understanding, practicing, reviewing, and integrating mentoring as a sustainable practice across an organisation. It is designed to provide consistent support for new recruits, returners, and employees who may be at risk of disengagement.
As part of the Trailblazer Employer Support Programme, this programme will help employers to create internal networks of near-peer support that strengthen employee retention, inclusion, and wellbeing.

- Business owners seeking to build in-house mentoring capability or want to work towards creating a nurturing, mentoring culture
- Experienced employees or near peers.

By the end of the programme, you will be able to...
- Understand the purpose, value, and ethics of workplace mentoring.
- Hold constructive, supportive mentoring conversations grounded in curiosity and compassion.
- Recognise signs of disengagement and provide early, compassionate intervention.
- Support new recruits, returners, and employees managing change or health challenges.
- Maintain ethical boundaries and confidentiality within the mentoring relationship.
- Contribute to an inclusive, trusting, and psychologically safe workplace culture.
Commitment required:
- Attendance: Attend four online sessions
- Session dates:
- December start: 12th /18th December 2025; 12th /21st January 2026
- January start: 30th January 2026; 11th /26th February and 13th March
- Session times: 9:30am-2pm
- Self-study (optional): around 2 hours
- Practice (optional): around 3 hours
- Assessment: There is no written assessment for this programme.
